Another round of Monday Motivation!

Today’s dose of motivation comes just up the shore on the Superior Hiking Trail (SHT).

I’m guessing a decent number of you have heard of the Superior Fall 100 mile race on the SHT from Gooseberry State Park to Lutsen (if you haven’t, click here for some mind-boggling stats about one of the toughest trail races around).

The SHT is absolutely relentless, and this race takes place on just about every “advanced” section of the trail within those 100 miles. Let’s just say the course is crazy. Well, someone just covered that course…TWICE in a row, establishing a new Fastest Known Time (FKT) in the process!

Jeff Miller, who lives in Silver Bay, MN, ran from Gooseberry State Park to Lutsen, then proceeded to turn around and run all the way back to Gooseberry in LESS THAN 3 DAYS!! He traveled the 200+ miles over the span of 69:10:36, finishing at 3:23 AM on May 31st, setting a new FKT for that route!!

I’ve done the Superior 50 mile race twice, and each time it blows my mind people run double that distance spread out over a couple days (in most cases). What Jeff recently did requires a whole new mindset shift for me 🙂

Congrats to Jeff on an incredible display of determination/athleticism, and I hope this motivates others (the way it did for me) to find their own personal challenge or adventure to pursue – no matter the distance!

Have a great week everyone!
