I’m registered for a real race again and could not be more excited!
The last time I did an in-person race was back on January 4th when I ran the Northwoods Winter Half Marathon. And on Sunday, October 18th I’ll be running in the Harder ‘N Heck Half Marathon. Both races are put on by the wonderful folks over at Adventure Running Company.
It’s always fun to race close to home, especially on trails I’m used to and comfortable with (as comfortable as anyone can be climbing from below I-35 in West Duluth to Skyline Parkway in a couple miles).
And if you’re anything like me, being signed up for a race filters into other areas of my life, usually meaning I am more diligent with sleep (try to be anyway), diet, sticking to a regular running schedule, fewer beers/ciders/wines/etc. This usually leads to me feeling better overall and ready to go for race day.
This year’s race will be a staggered start, with groups of 25 or less starting every 10 minutes. This is the way races like this need to be held in order to comply with COVID-19 measures and keep people safe – I’m happy to oblige! I have been doing various distance time trials by myself this spring/summer and am looking forward to pushing it with others around.
Last I checked there were around 20 open spots for the half, so if you’re at all itching to get back to racing, I encourage you to sign up fast before the remaining slots fill and get ready for a fun morning on the fall trails of Duluth!
Hopefully see you there 🙂
