It’s kind of crazy to think that it is actually race week for those of us signed up for the Spring Superior races up at Lutsen.

I’m already getting some slight pre-race jitters, which I hope is a good sign, but who knows – my last race was a 50k back on Halloween lat year!

I will be interested to see how this race goes and feels as I have only recently began serously running again following my highest mileage training year in 2021 – my body certainly needed the relaxed approach and lower mileage the last 5-6 months provided! With that said, it does feel good to be back in the swing of things again with a chance to push myself on Saturday.

Because of the crazy amounts of snow the north shore received late this spring, along with significant rain fall, the trail could potentially be unfit to run on for such a large amount of people. We will find out if the races will be held on the SHT or on nearby forest service roads…two of my favorite options for running up north 🙂 Either way, I’m beyond excited to be surrounded by the fantastic Rocksteady running community that John Storkamp has poured his heart and soul into for so long.

As I have said many times before, my main goal these days in races is to have fun, so that’s what I’m going to go out and do!

I’m also excited to see how much fun our Duluth Runner athletes have up there, some for the first time, as we’ll have five taking part in the 50k and one in the 25k (and two taking on road half marathons elsewhere over the weekend)!!

To everyone toeing the line this weekend – good luck and enjoy the race…and remember to thank John and all of the volunteers!!
