Back in January 2025, our family received some scary news – our 4 year old nephew had cancer…not something you’re ever prepared to hear! His parents went to work immediately fighting for Cade to receive the best care possible and come up with a plan of attack. Here is a description of Cade and the situation from his GoFundMe page:

“Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-Hearted Supporters,

We write to you with heavy hearts to share that our sweet Cade has recently been diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma, a rare childhood cancer, only 250 cases a year. This life-changing diagnosis marks the beginning of a long and challenging journey filled with intense treatments, countless hurdles, and uncertainty.

Cade is a fun, strong, and resilient 4-year-old whose bright spirit has always been an inspiration to everyone lucky enough to know him. He has already shown incredible determination and bravery as he begins this battle. In the coming weeks, Cade will be under the expert care of the compassionate and highly skilled team at Minneapolis Children’s Hospital, where he will undergo chemotherapy. While this is just the first step in what will undoubtedly be a long road, Cade and his family are facing it with hope, courage, and love.

For his parents, Olivia and Ryan, and his older brother, Corbin, this diagnosis has turned their world upside down. Navigating the new reality of medical treatments, endless hospital visits, and emotional challenges will be incredibly difficult – all while ensuring Cade receives the best possible care.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and encouragement they’ve received so far. They are considering starting a CaringBridge page (DuluthRunner edit: this has since been setup) to share updates, but for now, they are focusing all their energy and love on Cade.

If you would like to support Cade and his family during this challenging time, your thoughts, prayers, and any contribution—big or small—would mean the world to them. Your kindness will help ease the burden on Olivia and Ryan, allowing them to focus fully on Cade’s care.

Cade is a warrior, and with the strength of his family and the support of a caring community, we know he can overcome this. Thank you for being part of Cade’s journey to health and healing.”
