365 Reasons To Run by Nikk Adams is a book that I couldn’t put down once I started!

The format was really unique: a journal entry for an entire year of running (at least a mile every day).

This book is an honest look into the highs and lows of training year-round in the Northland and I appreciated Nikk’s humor throughout. It also describes how he hadn’t always been a runner, which is a perspective that is sometimes missing…not all of us have just loved running for as long as we can remember!

While there are daily notes regarding date/time/distance/weather conditions, there are also in-depth recaps of his three big ultra races during this time frame: Superior 50k, Black Hills 50, and Superior 100! There are so many variables during an ultra and I loved how Nikk provides a detailed look into them. Also, I’ve always been captivated by the Superior 100 trail race, and this book only enhanced that captivation. Whether or not I’ll ever tackle the 100 mile distance, it’s always in the back of my mind and I really enjoyed his account of the race.

Another great reason to read this book is recon if you’re thinking about running any these races – you definitely get an insider’s look at the courses, challenges to expect, and ways to push through during ultras when you inevitably wonder why you even run 🙂

“Follow Nikk as he feels on top of the world one day, and buried under self-doubt and lacks motivation the next. Find out what it takes to run 365 days a year, no matter what.” — that could not have been more true, so many raw and honest thoughts/feelings written down that we can all learn something from.

For those of you looking for a little running motivation, or to fan the flame that already exists, I highly recommend that you grab a copy of 365 Reasons To Run…enjoy!!
