The Victory 5K Run/Walk launches April 27th in Hibbing! This race is presented by Baron’s Pharmacy and is a certified and sanctioned race through USATF with a great course and fun activities for the family.
The race begins at 9:00 AM and provides chip timing to all runners. All pre-registered participants are guaranteed a finisher’s medal and race T-shirt. Same-Day registration is available but medals and shirts are not guaranteed. Participants who register before March 24th will receive a discount and the entry fee is only $25 for the race. Regular registration fees are $35.
The community of Hibbing is already excited to host the race. Serious runners are excited about the certified course and awards will be presented to the top overall male and female finishers, and the top three male and female runners in the following age divisions: 0-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. The race also will award the top three male and female finishers in the walking division and the top three in the wheelchair division.
Team awards are spurring on creativity and many teams have already registered. To build a team, no experience is required. Just fun! The teams are not timed or awarded based on performance at the race. Awards like “Largest Team”, “Best Name”, or “Best Dressed” are bringing smiles and excitement to race day.
The event also includes a Free Kids Fun Run. T-Shirts are available for purchase but are not required to participate. Kids 10 and under will complete a fun loop around the school grounds to introduce them to the love of running. All the kids run participants will receive a finisher’s treat!
Participants can pick up all the race information the night before at the Annual VCA Pasta Feed. Carbs are important and the homemade recipe has been a staple in the Hibbing Community for years. Pasta feed tickets are available through the race registration website or at the door. VCA will even be providing free take-out and delivery for pasta feed orders. Anyone who can’t join for the pasta feed can pick up their race packets prior to 8:30 AM at VCA on race day.
Proceeds from the race benefit the students of VCA and the patients of Project Care. VCA is proud to host the event and aspires to make a positive impact on the community. As part of this mission, VCA has committed to donating a percentage of the race proceeds to the Project Care Free Clinic. Project Care provides free basic health care services o those who are underinsured or uninsured. Both Project Care and VCA are 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations aimed at serving well those who walk through their doors. By teaming up to organize and run this premier 5K event on the Iron Range, both organizations can be quipped financially to better serve our people.
For anyone who loves to help and give back to the running community, volunteer registration is open on the registration website. Areas of service include race planning and prep, race-day operations, and the pasta feed. Each volunteer who registers will be given an official volunteer t-shirt and will be provided with an itinerary for directions and time commitments.
